His appointment means that the Company can really dig deep into the business of carbon, starting by assessing its own ambitions towards Net Zero as well as reinforcing the CarbonStore team by providing his expert knowledge in carbon offsetting.
Michael holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and has worked in the fields of renewable energy and resource management. With a combined 7 years of experience in low-carbon technology development, ESG framework implementation, and carbon management in agriculture, processing, and distribution.
His career also spans the disciplines of carbon reduction innovation, bioenergy, and waste and wastewater treatment process optimisation, all of which are linked to knowledge transfer activities and the deployment of innovative R&D support mechanisms for enterprises.
Of his appointment to Carbon Manager, Michael said: “I am eager to help drive net zero transformation at Tilhill and across the organisation and to utilise my understanding of the drivers and mechanics of climate change. I am also a certified Lead Auditor to ISO 14001, 50001, and 14064 standards, putting a firm stamp on the credibility of the carbon team within Tilhill and CarbonStore.
“I have always been concerned about climate change and the possibilities for mitigating it. “Climate change is real,” says Leonardo Di Caprio. It’s happening right now, and it’s the most serious threat our species has ever faced.” When I was offered the post of Carbon Manager the chance to give my quota to climate change mitigation in Tilhill and companywide opened right up. I was ecstatic.”
Michael will be reporting to Stuart Pearson, Tilhill’s Business Development Director. Of his decision to choose Michael as the successful candidate from a strong line up, Stuart said: “I am really pleased to be able to bring Michael into the team, his knowledge and passion for sustainable business and Carbon reduction is something which we can all learn and benefit from and I look forwards to working with him to support the development of our Net Zero future.
